How to Remove Skunk Smell From a Car

To completely remove skunk smell from a car or truck, first determine where the skunk spray actually landed. Depending on what happened, you may need to treat the tires, wheels, undercarriage, lower exterior surfaces, carpet, floor mats and/or upholstery.
Skunk Smell on the Outside of a Car
Mix:
4 ounces OdorXit Eliminator Concentrate + enough water to make 1 gallon (128 ounces).
Using a pump, yard or deck sprayer, thoroughly apply the solution to the affected undercarriage, wheels, tires and other water-safe exterior areas where the skunk spray may have landed.
Allow the solution to air dry.
Running the vehicle through a car wash first can remove surface contamination and make it easier for OdorXit Eliminator to reach the remaining source of the odor.
Skunk Smell Inside a Car
For carpet, floor mats and water-safe upholstery, mix:
1 ounce OdorXit Eliminator Concentrate + enough water to make 32 ounces.
Apply the solution to the areas where the skunk odor is coming from and allow them to air dry.
If the smell improves but isn't completely gone, don't make the OdorXit solution stronger. Look for another area that the skunk odor reached and treat that source.
OdorXit needs the proper amount of water to activate and work as intended. The key isn't making it stronger — it's reaching the source.

How to Get Skunk Smell Out of Carpet
If skunk odor was tracked into your home on shoes or pet paws, the contamination may be primarily on the surface of the carpet. Apply properly diluted OdorXit Eliminator to the affected areas and allow them to air dry.
If a pet that was directly sprayed by a skunk rolled or rubbed against the carpet, the skunk spray may have penetrated more deeply. In that case, apply enough OdorXit solution to reach everywhere the skunk spray reached.
Don't just mist it. Reach all of it.
If the skunk spray soaked through the carpet into the backing or padding, OdorXit needs to reach those areas too.
How to Get Skunk Smell Out of Clothes & Washable Fabrics
Skunk odor can easily transfer to clothing, towels, pet bedding, blankets and other washable fabrics.
Add 1 ounce of OdorXit Eliminator Concentrate to the washing machine along with your normal laundry detergent.
For heavily contaminated clothing or fabrics, allowing additional contact time/agitating in the washer before completing the wash cycle can help OdorXit reach and neutralize the odor source.
Then complete the normal wash and rinse cycles. An additional rinse may be used if needed.
Do not mix OdorXit Eliminator directly with chlorine bleach or oxygen bleach.
For fabrics that cannot be machine washed, apply properly diluted OdorXit Eliminator to a small inconspicuous area first. If the material is water-safe and colorfast, treat the affected area and allow it to air dry.
How to Remove Skunk Smell From Leather
If skunk spray gets onto leather clothing, boots or other water-tolerant leather, remove as much of the fresh contamination as possible before it dries.
Then apply properly diluted OdorXit Eliminator:
1 ounce OdorXit Eliminator Concentrate + enough water to make 32 ounces. (1/2 ounce Eliminator + enough water to make 16 ounces, etc.)
Test an inconspicuous area first to confirm water and the solution will not affect the leather's finish or color.
Apply the solution to the affected area and allow it to air dry.
How to Get Skunk Smell Off a Motorcycle
If you've had the unfortunate experience of hitting a skunk while riding a motorcycle, both you and the bike may need some attention!
Rinse water-safe areas of the motorcycle to remove as much surface contamination as possible. Then apply properly diluted OdorXit Eliminator to the affected water-safe areas and allow them to air dry.
