How to Use OdorXit Eliminator

For the best odor removal, you need to treat the entire source of the odor, including anywhere urine or another odor-causing material may have soaked beneath the surface.

1. Clean the area first.

Vacuum, sweep or wash away dirt and surface contamination before applying OdorXit Eliminator.

2. Mix OdorXit Eliminator Concentrate

For a standard-strength solution, mix 4 ounces of OdorXit Eliminator Concentrate with enough tap water to make 1 gallon (128 ounces).

More Eliminator does not mean more odor-eliminating power. Do not use less water or add extra Concentrate in an attempt to make the solution stronger. OdorXit Eliminator needs the proper amount of water to activate and work as intended.

The key to eliminating tough odors isn’t making the solution stronger — it’s getting the properly mixed solution all the way to the source of the odor.

If urine soaked deep into carpet, padding, subfloors, concrete, grout or other porous surfaces, the OdorXit solution must reach everywhere the urine reached.

Don’t make it stronger. Make sure it reaches the source.

3. Don’t Just Mist It. Saturate It.

Apply enough properly mixed OdorXit solution to reach the entire odor source. If urine soaked beneath the surface, OdorXit needs to reach that same depth.

4. Allow the treated area to dry.

5. Check for any remaining odor.

If the smell is improved but not completely gone, that usually means there is still an untreated source. Treat a larger or deeper area to reach the remaining odor.

Removing Cat & Dog Urine Smell From Carpet, Concrete and Grout

Pet urine can travel much farther than the spot you see on the surface. Cat urine and dog urine can soak through carpet into the padding and subfloor, penetrate porous concrete, and work its way into grout.

For urine odor in carpet, concrete or grout, adding a carpet shampoo containing surfactants can help the OdorXit solution penetrate deeper into porous surfaces.

For one gallon, mix:

• 4 ounces OdorXit Eliminator Concentrate
• 12 ounces carpet shampoo containing surfactants
• enough water to make 1 gallon (128 ounces)

Look for the word “surfactant” in the carpet shampoo ingredients. Ionic or nonionic surfactants are both acceptable.

Apply enough solution to reach as deeply as the urine penetrated. A light surface spray may not reach old or deeply absorbed pet urine odor in concrete, carpet padding or subfloors.

Where Can You Use OdorXit Eliminator?

Diluted OdorXit Eliminator can be used on many water-safe materials and surfaces, including carpet, hardwood floors, concrete, grout, tile, subfloors, walls, furniture, upholstery, mattresses, cabinetry, fabric and leather.

It can also be used with compatible carpet-cleaning and laundry detergents for cleaning and odor removal from carpet, washable rugs, clothing, pet bedding and other washable fabrics.

Already tried bleach? You can still use OdorXit Eliminator. Do not mix OdorXit directly with chlorine bleach or oxygen bleach. If bleach has already been used, simply allow the area to dry completely before applying OdorXit Eliminator. Then apply the properly diluted OdorXit solution so it reaches the source of the remaining odor — including odor that previous cleaning products left behind.

Find Hidden Cat & Dog Urine With a UV Black Light

You can’t always see where a pet accident happened — especially after the urine has dried. A UV black light can help locate dried cat and dog urine before the area has been washed, making it easier to find the source of a hidden pet urine odor.

Use the UV black light before cleaning or washing the area. Washing can remove the components of urine that fluoresce under UV light, even though odor-causing residue may remain in the carpet, padding, subfloor, concrete, grout or other surface. So, if an area has already been cleaned and no longer glows under the black light, that does not necessarily mean the urine odor is gone.

Once you locate the urine, apply properly diluted OdorXit Eliminator to the contaminated area and anywhere the urine may have spread or soaked underneath.

Remember: the black light helps you find the urine. Your nose may still find what the black light can’t. 😊

Using OdorXit Eliminator Concentrate in a Carpet Cleaning Machine

OdorXit Eliminator Concentrate can be added to a carpet-cleaning machine, with or without a compatible carpet shampoo, to eliminate cat urine, dog urine and other stubborn odors from carpet.

When using OdorXit in a carpet-cleaning machine, allow the solution to remain on the carpet for 5–10 minutes before extracting it. OdorXit needs contact time with the urine and odor-causing residue before the solution is removed. This allows Eliminator to react with the urine, break down the odor-causing material and neutralize the odor associated with remaining urine salts.

For deep pet urine odor, however, a pump or deck sprayer may be more effective than a carpet-cleaning machine. Urine can soak through the carpet into the backing, padding and even the subfloor. A sprayer makes it easier to apply enough solution to reach the same depth as the urine.

Don’t extract it too quickly. Give OdorXit time to work.

And always remember: OdorXit has to reach everywhere the urine reached.
