Ozone seems to be the choice of people who don’t know any other option to remove pet odors.  Ozone may remove pet odors from the air but how to they expect for an airborne gas option to remove pet odors from concrete?  Or hardwood flooring?
Pet urine seeps under the floor boards, between the floor boards and deep into the porous finish of concrete.  How is a machine that puts out an airborne gas expect to get so deep into the concrete and under a layer of wood finish to remove pet odors?
Urine Contents
Urea salt produced as urine evaporates and is what causes the smell in urine or pet odor.  Urea is a stable salt.  It will not oxidize.  Ozone gets rid of odors that will oxidize.  Mold, mildew etc. will oxidize.  Urine will not oxidize, therefore, ozone won’t remove pet odors.
Attempts at Odor Removal
People use ozone anyway because they don’t know what else to use. They’ve tried things like:
  • Vinegar,
  • baking soda,
  • bleach,
  • detergents,
  • opening the windows and airing out the house
  • paints and sealers, even
  • essential oils
and have had no luck because they just don’t remove pet odors – the urea salt that is produced in urine. Ozone is dangerous too.  It is dangerous for humans and the environment.  You might think it smells good – like after a summer rainy day or lightening storm – but you do not want to be in the area while an ozone machine is running.  Plus it will damage elastics, plastics, metal, and some electronics.  Think what it would do to your eyes and even your internal organs.
It’s an Empty House, It’s OK
I hear you saying, but it’s an empty house.  None of these things are in an empty house.  What about plastic light fixtures, outlets, etc.  Ozone machines are often run for weeks at a time to remove pet odors and the longer it runs the more damage it can do.

But if you don’t know you have an alternative, how do you remove pet odors?

Sealers, you say.  Slap on a heavy coat of shellac or oil based paint or primer and seal it in.
Sure.  That will work for a while.  I guess long enough to sell the house.  However, did you know that what smells in urine is a reaction with urea salt and dirt, dust mites, water, etc. and is a gas?  Gas is a cross between a liquid and a solid.  You can paint a solid.  You can’t paint a liquid.  Paint water?  Really?  So you won’t be able to paint/seal gas in for very long.  It will create a bubble under the seal and eventually POP!  and outcomes the pet urine smell once again.
Ionizer?
Even the ionizer machine companies say you can’t completely remove pet odors with their machine ”

Note: If urine has soaked deeply into the carpet padding, hardwood floors, and/or concrete, professional remediation may be required. Ozone is a good pet odor remover and will remove most pet odors, but cannot penetrate some materials). –

Ugh!!!  Now comes OdorXit Concentrate.  It is made with a special water and essential oils formula that as long as it comes in contact with all the urine, it will remove pet odors completely. The recent storms that have ravaged multiple parts of the US have caused unprecedented damage. If you or your loved ones were affected by any of these storms, our thoughts and best wishes go out to you. Because these storms were so large in scale, people have experienced everything from moderate to complete damage.

Since getting rid of bad odors is our area of expertise, we want to help anyone who lost power for an extended period of time during one of these storms but didn't face complete damage to their home and belongings. Even if you're dealing with a refrigerator that smells incredibly bad due to it being fully defrosted and having items like frozen food decompose for days or even weeks, we want to go over how you can fully restore your appliance to its former condition.

5 Steps to Saving Your Refrigerator After Losing Electricity

The first step is to remove all of the spoiled food. This can be a truly nasty and smelly experience, which is why you'll want to wear a protective mask and gloves as you do it. Once your refrigerator is clean, take it outside and spray it out with a garden hose. If you have a truck or access to one, consider taking your appliance to a car wash and use the high-powered equipment to spray it out.

The next step is to spray one ounce of OdorXit Concentrate mixed with 30 ounces of water everywhere the refrigerator smells. That means spraying the insulation behind the doors,

under and around the door gaskets, the inside, behind the drawers and every little opening where the defrosted food might have dripped. Once the OdorXit Concentrate solution comes in contact with the rotten food smells, it will remove them from your refrigerator completely and safely.

The second to last step is to let the refrigerator dry outside then bring it back in the house. Don't panic if it still smells a little. It just means there is still at least one spot that hasn't been treated yet. You'll be able to knock it out by continuing to sniff and spraying wherever you detect even a slight odor.

The final step is to remember to be a good neighbor! Spray a few shots of the OdorXit Concentrate solution in the drain at the car wash or wherever you ended up treating your appliance. Anyone who comes by after you will be very glad you did.

By following the process above, it's possible to save even the worst smelling refrigerator, which in turns means saving hundreds of dollars by not needing to buy a replacement. So if you know anyone who's currently trying to restore belongings like their refrigerator, feel free to share this post with them by email or on Facebook.

Remember, a cats nose is way more sensitive than yours is, and they get much closer to the litter box with their sensitive nose than you do. So make using the litter box as pleasant as possible. While spring cleaning is something that most homeowners think about and many take part in, it’s easier for people like college students who are living in dorms to overlook. But just because spring cleaning may not be as common throughout college dorms doesn’t mean you should skip it.
