If you live in North America the chances are almost 100% that you have had to deal with skunk smell at least once in your life. If it was only once count yourself amongst the very lucky. Most dog owners have to deal with the odor at least once per dog, once per year.
Being a dog owner myself for the last 20 years, I guess that I have been luckier than many having had only 5 skunked dogs during that time. The real luck is having OdorXit Concentrate available at the drop of a hat or the squirt of a skunk. That’s because I have been stocking and selling OdorXit since 1995.
It took a couple of tries to get the application techniques right but now we can de-skunk odor our dog in less than an hour. The technique works on long haired big dogs like our 2 Akitas and on short haired dogs like our Puggle who has gotten sprayed twice just this summer. Admittedly, it takes a little longer than 1 hour to wash, deodorize and dry a hundred pound Alita but the Puggle only takes 45 minutes. If you have a really little dog (under 15 pounds) washing them in a sink or set tub works just as well.  In recent years, Dog-O-Mats dog washing salons have appeared and many cities in the USA. Some will even use OdorXit on your dog for you.
The technique is deceptively simple given that you have a shower with a sprayer on a hose that is long enough to reach the floor.
  1. Prepare the shower with a bottle of quality detergent pet shampoo, a pan or bowl of OdorXit mixed with water, a small kitchen sponge,  and enough towels to dry you and the dog.  Set the sprayer to spray and set the water temperature so that it is pretty warm.  Remember that a dogs body temperature is higher that yours and he is generally pretty well insulated with fur. Wetting that fur with water and shampoo reduces the insulation to near zero and cold or cool water will generally not be appreciated.  You will also want to prepare yourself by shedding most of your clothes.
  2. Take the dog directly into the shower with the sprayer off. Block the exit with your body. Turn on the water, let the temperature stabilize  and slowly wet your dog. Be careful to respect the dogs sensitive areas and go slowly.
  3. Once the dog is wet, introduce plenty of shampoo. To get the desired effect you need to have a nice lather all over and especially on the areas where the dog was sprayed. Yes, that means its face too.  Skunk spray is an oily substance and the detergent shampoo breaks down the oil and washes most of it away. It also changes what is not washed away so that it is more or less water soluble.
  4. Slowly rinse all the lather away with the sprayer and let the dog shake if it will otherwise use your hand like a squeegee to force the excess water out of the fur.
  5. Using the small kitchen sponge to apply the OdorXit solution all over your dog. If it was sprayed in the face, mouth and chest (which is the case most of the time) make sure that the OdorXit makes it all the way to the skin and into all the folds of skin.   When applying OdorXit to the areas around the eyes you can hold the dogs snout in your right hand with your thumb across the top and lightly touch the corner of the dogs right eye. This will make the dog close his eye while you wipe the sponge across it. Change hands and to the same thing for the other eye.  Unfortunately, if you have a Boxer or Pug or Bulldog or similar dog with a very short snout this method will not work so improvise.  Don’t forget to get under the ear flap. If your dog got sprayed in the mouth, it will not hurt him to wipe his mouth with OdorXit solution but don’t let him drink it. Drinking OdorXit solution will not hurt your dog, it just wastes your OdorXit.
  6. After a few minutes you can either rinse your dog with warm water or allow him to shake the excess OdorXit off and start the drying process.  The OdorXit smell will dissipate completely is a day or so, but the skunk smell should be gone by the time the dog is dry.
If you don’t have a shower or the dog will not fit in the shower you can always do this procedure outside, but you will probably want to keep your clothes on :-).
We have also found that applying the OdorXit with a trigger sprayer is not very effective and the dog is likely to react badly to being sprayed again.
If you live in the greater Cincinnati area check this link for a store near you . Otherwise mail order is your choice .
If you need a skunk odor remover right now and are willing to be satisfied with about 95% odor removal you can use this homebrew peroxide solution .

OdorXit Odor Eliminator

The recent storms that have ravaged multiple parts of the US have caused unprecedented damage. If you or your loved ones were affected by any of these storms, our thoughts and best wishes go out to you. Because these storms were so large in scale, people have experienced everything from moderate to complete damage.

Since getting rid of bad odors is our area of expertise, we want to help anyone who lost power for an extended period of time during one of these storms but didn't face complete damage to their home and belongings. Even if you're dealing with a refrigerator that smells incredibly bad due to it being fully defrosted and having items like frozen food decompose for days or even weeks, we want to go over how you can fully restore your appliance to its former condition.

5 Steps to Saving Your Refrigerator After Losing Electricity

The first step is to remove all of the spoiled food. This can be a truly nasty and smelly experience, which is why you'll want to wear a protective mask and gloves as you do it. Once your refrigerator is clean, take it outside and spray it out with a garden hose. If you have a truck or access to one, consider taking your appliance to a car wash and use the high-powered equipment to spray it out.

The next step is to spray one ounce of OdorXit Concentrate mixed with 30 ounces of water everywhere the refrigerator smells. That means spraying the insulation behind the doors,

under and around the door gaskets, the inside, behind the drawers and every little opening where the defrosted food might have dripped. Once the OdorXit Concentrate solution comes in contact with the rotten food smells, it will remove them from your refrigerator completely and safely.

The second to last step is to let the refrigerator dry outside then bring it back in the house. Don't panic if it still smells a little. It just means there is still at least one spot that hasn't been treated yet. You'll be able to knock it out by continuing to sniff and spraying wherever you detect even a slight odor.

The final step is to remember to be a good neighbor! Spray a few shots of the OdorXit Concentrate solution in the drain at the car wash or wherever you ended up treating your appliance. Anyone who comes by after you will be very glad you did.

By following the process above, it's possible to save even the worst smelling refrigerator, which in turns means saving hundreds of dollars by not needing to buy a replacement. So if you know anyone who's currently trying to restore belongings like their refrigerator, feel free to share this post with them by email or on Facebook.

Remember, a cats nose is way more sensitive than yours is, and they get much closer to the litter box with their sensitive nose than you do. So make using the litter box as pleasant as possible. While spring cleaning is something that most homeowners think about and many take part in, it’s easier for people like college students who are living in dorms to overlook. But just because spring cleaning may not be as common throughout college dorms doesn’t mean you should skip it.
