Discover how to remove urine from carpet, padding and flooring easily and be ready for company tonight.

And not only how to remove dog and cat urine from carpet, the same process will remove people urine, ferret urine, mice or hamster urine, even horse urine but I don’t know why you would have those on your carpet!  It will take elbow grease but you will discover how to remove urine from your carpet with the following information and instructions.
Carpet is a great absorber and most of the urine has probably already soaked through all the layers
  • nap and
  • backing,
  • padding, and
  • often the floor under the padding by the time you figure the animal has urinated on the carpet
Repeated urine accidents will create more concentrated urine deposits and larger areas of urine and residue that will need to be neutralized by water and OdorXit Concentrate .

Step One of How to remove urine from carpet, padding and flooring

  • The first questions is “ do you know where the urine is on your carpet?” A UV light is a great urine detector. It will make most urine fluoresce then you will know where to apply the OdorXit Concentrate Solution. This is a very important step in how to remove urine from your carpet. That will help to determine if the carpet is worth saving. It will take some effort to get the solution to all layers where the urine has soaked to eliminate the odor completely.
  • Because of the padding’s ability to hold liquid like a sponge, some carpet padding is almost never recoverable.
  • The amount of concentrated urine,
  • the physical makeup of the foam, and
  • the relatively low cost of replacement padding,

Step Two of How to remove urine from carpet padding – NOT!

make even attempting recovery a loosing proposition. The cost of the OdorXit aside, your time is more valuable than the cost to replace the padding including labor!

Step Three of How to remove urine from carpet, padding and flooring.

  •  Thinking of your carpet, it has 4 layers –
    •    Nap (top) of the carpet,
    •    Bottom of the carpet or backing,
    •    Padding and the (we are already removing)
    •    Floor underneath (wood, tile, whatever) could all be containing urine depending on the size of the animal and how much and how many times it has been peed on.   If the urine has dried, pour enough water on the carpet to reactivate the urine.
  •  Let the water sit for 2-3 minutes.
  • Vacuum it out with a wet/dry shop vac.
Now you are ready to mix the OdorXitsolution – 1 ounce OdorXitand 30 ounces water.  The solution
must get to all of those surfaces where the urine has run to actually neutralize the odor 100%.
•    Pour the Concentrate and water solution on the carpet
•    Pour the solution on in all the places to allow the solution to wick its way
through the carpet to travel the same path as the urine wetted the carpet.
•    Leave the Odorxit Concentrate solutionthere and let it dry.
Remember:  The OdorXit Concentrateand water solution MUST come in contact with all
layers of the carpet where the urine traveled. So after saturating the nap,
•    Lift up the carpet and spray the backing,
•    Remove the damp portion of the padding and
•    Spray the flooring underneath.
•    Turn on a ceiling fan in the room or place a fan at the area so it dries
and doesn’t make mold and create other smells.
3.  We recommend to cut out the contaminated padding and replace it with new after the odor problem everywhere is resolved. Spray both the floor and the back of the carpet and give the OdorXit Concentratesolution overnight to work.

Step Four of How to remove urine from carpet padding and flooring

Now is the time to test how great a job you did in how to remove urine from carpet and flooring.  Sniff it to make sure you’ve gotten the OdorXit Concentratesolution to all the stinky areas.  If some places still smell, repeat the process in the stinky areas, being sure to get the solution to all the smelly areas.

What have you used to get urine out of your carpet or flooring?  Share your story here!

”We got our carpet cleaned and dried in time for our party on Saturday night  People sat on the floor too and there was no smell.  I’d much rather my dog didn’t pee on the floor.  But when it happens, I know I can use OdorXit Concentrate and totally remove any odor as long as I get the solution to ALL of the urine."   Karen W.  Milwaukee, MN*
*DISCLAIMER: The results described here aren’t typical and will vary based on a variety of factors.
In all cases, it is very important that some OdorXit solution come in direct contact with all of the odor causing agents. If the OdorXit solution dries before it soaks into all the contaminated area, the odor will not be completely eliminated and you will have to repeat step 3 to remove urine smell from your carpeting.

The recent storms that have ravaged multiple parts of the US have caused unprecedented damage. If you or your loved ones were affected by any of these storms, our thoughts and best wishes go out to you. Because these storms were so large in scale, people have experienced everything from moderate to complete damage.

Since getting rid of bad odors is our area of expertise, we want to help anyone who lost power for an extended period of time during one of these storms but didn't face complete damage to their home and belongings. Even if you're dealing with a refrigerator that smells incredibly bad due to it being fully defrosted and having items like frozen food decompose for days or even weeks, we want to go over how you can fully restore your appliance to its former condition.

5 Steps to Saving Your Refrigerator After Losing Electricity

The first step is to remove all of the spoiled food. This can be a truly nasty and smelly experience, which is why you'll want to wear a protective mask and gloves as you do it. Once your refrigerator is clean, take it outside and spray it out with a garden hose. If you have a truck or access to one, consider taking your appliance to a car wash and use the high-powered equipment to spray it out.

The next step is to spray one ounce of OdorXit Concentrate mixed with 30 ounces of water everywhere the refrigerator smells. That means spraying the insulation behind the doors,

under and around the door gaskets, the inside, behind the drawers and every little opening where the defrosted food might have dripped. Once the OdorXit Concentrate solution comes in contact with the rotten food smells, it will remove them from your refrigerator completely and safely.

The second to last step is to let the refrigerator dry outside then bring it back in the house. Don't panic if it still smells a little. It just means there is still at least one spot that hasn't been treated yet. You'll be able to knock it out by continuing to sniff and spraying wherever you detect even a slight odor.

The final step is to remember to be a good neighbor! Spray a few shots of the OdorXit Concentrate solution in the drain at the car wash or wherever you ended up treating your appliance. Anyone who comes by after you will be very glad you did.

By following the process above, it's possible to save even the worst smelling refrigerator, which in turns means saving hundreds of dollars by not needing to buy a replacement. So if you know anyone who's currently trying to restore belongings like their refrigerator, feel free to share this post with them by email or on Facebook.

While spring cleaning is something that most homeowners think about and many take part in, it’s easier for people like college students who are living in dorms to overlook. But just because spring cleaning may not be as common throughout college dorms doesn’t mean you should skip it.
