Bathroom Spillage Odor Control

Using OdorXit Concentrate to eliminate urine odors in bathrooms is a common and effective application. The question is, where to use it and how strong should the solution be? It depends on what the area around the toilet is made of and covered with.

If the area around the toilet is all ceramic tile, wash the area with spray cleaner and spray with OdorXit solution mixed 1 part Concentrate and 30 parts water, making sure that all the grout is wetted, as well as the tile and the toilet. Make sure you get the area under the tank.

If the floor is covered with removable/washable bathroom carpet, wash the carpet with the normal amount of detergent and no bleach. Add 2 or 3 caps full of OdorXit Concentrate and wash normally. If possible, stop the washing machine at the end of the first wash cycle and before the spin cycle to allow the carpet to soak for 15 to 60 minutes. (In most top loader washing machines, if you leave the lid open, it will stop automatically after the wash cylce to allow the soaking. On a side load machine, there is often a 'pause' buttone you'll need to push to allow the soaking.) Then allow the wash cycle to complete normally. The odor will be gone.

If the walls are involved and they are covered with non water resistant wallpaper, permanently solving the odor problem will involve more than simply spraying the wall with diluted OdorXit Concentrate (which works most of the time). The paste that holds the wallpaper on the wall is water-soluble. This means that the water in the diluted OdorXit will tend to cause the glue holding the wallpaper to release. Replacing the wallpaper may be necessary in some extreme cases simply because the urine has soaked through the paper into the wallboard. If this is the case, remove the wallpaper and residual paste, then spray the wallboard with OdorXit to eliminate the odor source in the wall and allow it to dry completely. Replace the wallpaper with a water-resistant variety, if possible.

If the wall covering is Marilite (plastic coated masonite), make sure the seams and any breaks or cracks in the surface are flooded with diluted OdorXit. OdorXit Concentration for this application should be diluted 1ounce of OdorXit Concentrate per quart or liter of water (~32 ounces).

Bathroom Mold Control

Bathrooms, especially the ones with noisy fans and no window are prime territory for mold to grow. Water condensation for showers and baths are all the water mold and spores need to grow on your tile, grout, curtains, towels, cabinets and any other place in a bathroom the is likely to grow mold.

Mold can be a thing of the past in your bathroom by placing just a 5 gram packet of OdorXit ClO₂ in the bathroom. The humidity in the air causes the packet to produce small amounts of chlorine dioxide (ClO2) for 10 to 30 days depending on how high the humidity is and how close it is mounted to the shower/bath tub (the closer the shorter the time and the faster it works).

Using OdorXit ClO₂ is really too easy. Just place the included clean self adhering pouch to the wall in an inconspicuous place and place the tyvek pouch in the pouch. That's it.

The chlorine dioxide kills both mold fungus and mold spores dead. ClO₂ also kill bacteria and viruses in the bathroom as well.

When the blue border on the packet turns white or tan, the packet is exhausted but it does not need to be replaced for a month or so because all the spores that would normally be ready to turn into new mold fungus are dead as well. As new, live spores are brought back into the bathroom on your clothes the mold will eventually return but it takes a long time.
